Member Gardens

Jan. 13: At this annual meeting, members discuss their own gardens.

In the wilds above H Street NE, Jason turned a utility back yard into a garden with a rain barrel as the only water source and a river of Kentucky blue grass as the "water feature."

Diane, with the assistance of her neighbor, expanded a small backyard water feature into a spectacular backyard water garden with waterfall, bog garden and fish pond.

Carole said persons with corner lots had a special duty to present an attractive streetscape with changing interest for those who pass by daily. She uses garden ornaments, rather than hardscape, to give focus points in the yard and annuals to bring change. Carole said one can bring harmony by using the same plant with different colored blooms or different plants with the same color of blooms.
