Jazz It Up at Philadelphia Flower Show

March 3: We spent most of the day amidst the wonders of the venerable Philadelphia Flower Show. The 2008 theme was "Jazz It Up", a salute to New Orleans and in addition to the many floral exhibits there were performances by jazz bands and combos throughout the day. No sooner did we comment that it was odd that we hadn't bumped into anyone we knew, we spied Lorraine and Joyce passing by!

Most exhibitors incorporated jazz into their exhibits by including musical instruments, musicians and/or musical symbols. The second most popular idea was the Cajun cabin out on the bayou, followed by Mardi Gras, alligators and the French Quarter. With all the music and the Mardi Gras beads caught up in the trees, the show definitely had a New Orleans feel.
